3 Ways to Keep Your Holiday Celebrations Safe

The holiday season is full of excitement and celebrations outside of your usual routine. Even if you typically follow safe practices, it can be helpful to get a refresher before the holiday season. Here are our tips in honor of Safe Toys and Celebrations Month:

1. Avoid Dangerous Toys

The American Academy of Ophthalmology reports that about 1 in every 10 children’s eye injuries treated in emergency rooms are caused by toys. Keep the kids in your life safe by avoiding toys that involve projectiles or sharp edges.

2. Pop Bubbly Safely

Protect the festive atmosphere and your eyes by using caution when opening champagne bottles. To open safely, tilt the bottle away from people, and hold at a 45-degree angle. Slowly twist the bottle clockwise while holding the cork still.

3. Keep A Safe Distance from Sparklers and Fireworks

If you like to ring in the New Year with a bang, make sure you’re protecting your vision. Hold sparklers at arm’s length, supervise children around both sparklers and fireworks, follow manufacturer safety instructions,  and make sure there’s water nearby in case of emergency.
