Face Mask Fogging Up Your Glasses?

Spring 2020’s top fashion piece? The COVID-19 face mask, of course! Available in traditional surgical blue, floral, polka dots, puppies, kittens, your favorite collegiate team and tartan plaid, the sky’s the limit where face mask style is concerned.

But if you’re a glasses wearer, you have bigger problems than deciding on what style of fabric face mask you prefer. You’ve probably experienced something we like to call the COVID mask fog face. It’s when your glasses fog up because your breath is being trapped inside your mask and fogging up your glasses. As if masks weren’t uncomfortable enough, glasses-wearers have to deal with this extra nuisance.

Preventing Foggy Lenses

One idea that seems to help is wearing a mask that can form to the bridge of your nose — one with wire, for instance. This kind of mask can help prevent the warm air from your mouth from traveling north and fogging up your lenses. But, increased demand for the disposable, wire type means many Americans are wearing homemade cloth masks, leaving the others for our frontline healthcare workers.

Additionally, placing a tissue under the top of your face mask can help absorb some of the droplets and, therefore, keep moisture from fogging up your lenses. But a tissue under your mask might also make the situation even more cumbersome and uncomfortable than before.

We Want to Make Sure You Are 20/Happy

At Center For Sight, we always have the same goal. We sincerely care about you and we want all our patients to be able to be 20/Happy!

The American Academy of Ophthalmology recently published recommendations to discontinue wearing contacts completely and wear eyeglasses instead during this COVID-19 season to cut down on excessive eye touching. Beyond this, we have another thought we’d like to share. Glasses are better than contacts, yes, but LASIK, we believe, is better still.

LASIK is a Healthy Choice

Experts have known for years that LASIK is a healthy choice, and many studies have shown it to be safer than long-term negligent contact use. At Center For Sight, the wellbeing of every patient we get to serve has always been our top priority.
We sincerely love to talk to people about the freedom and convenience LASIK offers. From the freedom to focus on your workouts without hassling with sweat dripping into your contacts to the convenience of opening your eyes in the morning and seeing the alarm clock without having to reach for your glasses, LASIK is synonymous with freedom and convenience.

Looking Forward to a 20/Happy Future

Las Vegas, we’re here for you. We want you to know that even in these uncertain times, Center For Sight’s commitment to the many communities we serve remains strong.
