Background
Dr. Selim was born in Ankara, Turkey. He graduated from Robert College, a prestigious American high school in Istanbul, and began his medical education at Istanbul University’s medical school. After graduating from both institutions with second-place honors, he came to the US to do a residency in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital meanwhile also attending the conferences at MEEI.
He then decided to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Indiana University and a rigorous fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology with Dr. Parks at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC. He then returned to Turkey to form a pediatric ophthalmology division in Istanbul Surgery Hospital.
Dr. Selim joined Center For Sight after serving as the division chief of the ophthalmology department at Children’s Hospital Oakland in Oakland, California for nearly 18 years. He has been a high-volume surgeon and inpatient specialist in addition to running the hospital’s outpatient department and administrative duties. Dr. Selim looks forward to serving the children and families in Vegas.
