Background
Dr. Bouras’ interest in eye care was sparked at an early age, as he routinely attended his mom’s eye appointments with her. She suffers from glaucoma (controlled and doing quite well today!), and as a single mom, she often had to take young George with her for her check-ups and treatment.
“By the time I was a senior in high school, I knew I wanted to be an optometrist and I stayed on that track,” said Dr. Bouras, who is also married to an optometrist (they met in optometry school).
In addition to his Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Bouras completed a rigorous residency in Ocular Disease with the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. There he received specialized training in treating and managing ocular diseases as well as pre and post-op care of cataract and LASIK patients.
“When I first visited Center For Sight, I felt like it would be a perfect fit for me to use the skills and experience I gained in my residency since it is a busy practice with a significant focus on eye disease and conditions in addition to vision correction,” said Dr. Bouras.
Outside of work, Dr. Bouras enjoys staying active, hiking and looks forward to enjoying the benefits of Nevada’s arid climate since he is a native of Illinois.
