What is Presbyopia?
Presbyopia is a natural eye condition experienced by roughly 114 million Americans as the lens slowly loses its flexibility. This loss of flexibility is gradual, but it usually becomes noticeable in the early to mid- 40’s, as it becomes more difficult to focus on close objects. This can make writing, reading and other tasks requiring good near vision difficult. In the past, doctors have only been able to prescribe reading glasses or monovison lenses to help presbyopia patients achieve better near vision, but neither are always desirable options, as they both come with drawbacks.
