Prior to your procedure, your surgeon will review post-op instructions and answer any further questions you may have. You can expect to be in the surgical center for 2-3 hours for recovery, but the actual procedure typically takes only 20 minutes in an out-patient surgical suite.
To begin the procedure, your doctor will use a femtosecond laser to make a small opening in your cornea. During this time you may feel slight pressure for a couple seconds prior to the inlay being placed within the opening, but this is tolerable with numbing drops. When they begin to wear off it is not unusual to experience light sensitivity, tearing, scratchiness or irritation. To manage these symptoms, your doctor may prescribe a medication.
