The Next Level in Cataract Surgery

Until now, surgeons have relied upon the accuracy of pre-surgery measurements to determine a cataract patient’s post-op needs. But the Light Adjustable Lens is changing how the most common surgery is performed in the US. With the LAL, surgeons simply implant the lens and, using a targeted ultraviolet light, adjust it after surgery.

Center for Sight Las Vegas is the first practice in Nevada to offer the Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®).

Better for Patients

Traditionally, cataract patients undergo extensive preoperative testing to determine the prescription (or power) their new implantable lens should be set at. However, pre-op testing cannot fully anticipate small shifts caused by healing. Being able to adjust the lens’ power after healing gives surgeons and patients the opportunity for clearer, more precise vision.

Less Dependence on Glasses

Studies show that patients who receive the LAL and the recommended post-surgery treatments were more likely to achieve 20/20 vision or better without glasses compared to cataract patients who have standard lens implants.1 The LAL is made of proprietary material that can be adjusted post-surgery using Light Delivery Device from RxSight® to deliver targeted ultraviolet light treatments. The LAL can be adjusted based on a patient’s lifestyle goals.

The LAL & You

The LAL is ideal for (but not limited to) cataract patients who have had previous vision correction surgery such as LASIK, PRK, or RK. Please note that, unlike other lenses, the LAL requires a series of follow-up appointments called “light adjustments.” Each appointment will fine-tune your power (or prescription) until it’s the very best for you. Once it is, a final lock-in treatment will be given.

It’s rare, but there are cases when the Light Adjustable Lens isn’t a good fit for patients. Center for Sight offers other implantable lenses for cataract patients and will work with you to choose the best one for your lifestyle, goals, and specific eye conditions.

Determining if the LAL is right for you begins by scheduling an appointment.

About Cataracts

Once begun, cataracts only worsen until surgery is necessary. During surgery, a patient’s natural lens is removed and replaced with a clear synthetic one. Read more here.
